PokerStars has boosted its pro team with the addition of Ukrainian-born American Eugene Katchalov. The 29-year-old is probably best know for winning this year's $100,000 High Roller event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure where he pocketed $1.5m after beating Daniel Negreanu heads-up.

Katchalov's other big tournament score was the World Poker Tour Five Diamond Championship in 2007 where he bagged a whopping $2.48m. All told, the New Yorker has career earnings of $6.1m.

A delighted Katchalov said, “I feel very fortunate in having the opportunity to represent PokerStars. It is the largest and, in my opinion, the best-run poker site in the world, with a great team of pros.”

Daniel Negreanu added, “Eugene has always flown under the radar, but among his peers, his game is well respected and he is considered one of the best in the world, both in tournaments and cash games. I’m thrilled to see Eugene as part of the team. He’s a great guy and an excellent poker ambassador.”

Katchalov will make his debut as a PokerStars pro at this weekend's Russian Poker Series event in Kiev.
