Erik Sullivan dominates WPT Barcelona

Friday, 27 May 2011

As expected a bigger field was in attendance at the Casino de Barcelona for the second of two opening flight of the WPT Spanish Championship. 122 players sat down for Day 1B making a grand total of 216, substantially down on last year's field of 326, but still enough to generate a decent prize pool of €691,200.

Erik Sullivan closed the day at the head of the chip counts and will return to the tables later today with a stack of 140,700. The youngster wasn't shy about highlighting his achievements, shouting “I'm the xxxxing boss of this room!” after pulling off a nice bluff.

He'll have stiff competition staying the boss of the room for the duration of the contest though with the likes of Szymon Pieszczoch, Daniel Morgan, Barbara Martinez, Morten Mortensen and Martin Jacobson all returning with hefty stacks.

A total of 27 players will make the money with the min-cash set at €4,500. The top nine finishers will all bag a five-figure score with the winner walking away with €206,000 and a seat in the 2012 WPT Championship worth $25,000.
