Erik Seidel wins LAPC High Roller event for $144,000

Tuesday, 1 March 2011

To be totally honest, when we saw the results of the LAPC High Roller we assumed they were a joke – how can Erik Seidel continue to run this good after two PCA final tables and two Aussie Millions final tables worth a combined $3.6m? Well, he has.

Seidel defeated a small field of just 18 players at the LA Poker Classic in the $25,000 High Roller event and began the day by Tweeting: “Down to two tables in the high roller, or to put it another way, just started the high roller”. Seidel won the tournament with a three-way all-in against runner-up Darren Elias and third-place finisher Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier when his A-A held against A-Q and 9-9.

With this win he adds $144,570 to his resume and moves ahead of Phil Ivey on the all-time tournament earnings list; Seidel now has $13.95m in live cashes which puts him just $40,000 ahead of Phil Ivey and around $120,000 behind Daniel Negreanu in the lists.
