Erik Seidel makes a World Poker Tour final table. Shock

Tuesday, 12 April 2011

The definition of news is unexpected or recently developing events. The former certainly doesn’t apply to the “news” that Erik Seidel has made another major final table. This time it came in the smallest $10,000 event in the WPT since season one, the Hollywood Open.

The field of 97 players is now down to nine and what a final nine we have – Allen “chainsaw” Kessler, Ali Eslami, Tom Marchese, William Reynolds and of course Erik Seidel have all made the unofficial final table. Tonight the field plays down from 9 to 6 apparently, which seems silly but what do we know?

Day 2 chip leader Andy Whetstone sank like a wet stone to finish Day 3 with just 83,500 and the shortest stack. Seidel is in third place with over half a million in chips while they all trail Steve Barshak and his 601,000 stack. Hey, that rhymes!

Each of the remaining nine players is guaranteed a $31,021 payday but the first prize of $273k and the glory of a six-handed WPT televised final table awaits six of the nine remaining. Join us tomorrow to find out who made the cut.
