Englishman Paul Alterman wins WSOP Circuit event

All eyes may have been on the Bellagio for the WPT Championship these past few days but there was another big tournament in Las Vegas taking place over the weekend and there's some British success to report.

The latest $1,080 buy-in WSOP Circuit event attracted a field of 138 players to Caesars Palace and in the end it was Londoner Paul Alterman who had the most cause to celebrate. A deal to split the cash was agreed with four players left but they continued to play for the title and the WSOP circuit ring.

The heads up encounter ended up being an all English affair as Alterman went up against British born but now California based Sam McGrath. The software engineer couldn't match Alterman though who added another big tournament win to an already impressive list of tournament cashes. Alterman, who has had domestic success on the GUKPT, officially collected $35,472 for the victory.
