English Poker Open final table set

English Poker Open final table set

Tuesday, 14 September 2010

In total the English Poker Open saw 194 players stump up the £3,500 to enter the tournament, generating a prize pool just short of £700,000 and a first place prize of more than £200,000. As the money bubble burst with the elimination of Philip Oehmke in 19th place, friends of Bluff Europe Liv Boeree and Phil Laak were still in the hunt.

Sadly, neither has made it to the final table – Laak busted after Oehmke for the minimum cash of £6,800 in 18th place while Boeree made it to 12th, earning £9,500. Each of the nine players at the final table is guaranteed at least £13,500 with the winner taking home nearly a quarter-million pounds.

The nine remaining players will reconvene today at 3pm to play down to a winner. Mathew Frankland leads the field while Salman Behbehani is the short stack with just over seven big blinds. Play continues with 5,000/10,000 blinds and a running ante of 1,000. The final table chip counts are as follows:

1. Mathew Frankland – 668,000
2. Sebastian Crul – 583,500
3. Fabian Quoss – 559,000
4. Andrew Brennan – 336,000
5. Mark Norman – 224,500
6. Felipe Ramos – 196,500
7. Stephen Chimelski – 191,000
8. Brent Lehring – 94,500
9. Salman Behbehani – 72,000
