Emad Tahtouh Holds Day 1a Chip Lead at APPT Auckland

Wednesday, 14 October 2009

The Asian Pacific Poker Tour kicked off in Auckland, New Zealand, yesterday; 135 players showing up for Day 1a of the $3,500 Main Event. In the poker world, Auckland is most famous for Lee Nelson, the PokerStars PRO and former Aussie Millions Main Event champion – he kicked off proceedings with the shuffle up and deal announcement, promising he’d be tough to beat.

He was eliminated two hands later.

Yes, on the second hand of the day before half the room had even sat down, Lee Nelson had run the nut full house into quads and was hitting the rail hard as the first man eliminated. Grant Levy now holds the mantle for PokerStars as the only pro to survive Day 1a.
