The 2012 Genting Poker Series signed off over the weekend with its end of year Grand Final. As you'd expect from a tournament series that has continually exceeded expectations, the action at the Fox Poker Club was top notch with a big field and a guarantee busting prize pool.

After three days of action with was Elliott Panyi who had the most to celebrate. The youngster outlasted a field of 176 runners in the £1,500 buy-in event to walk away with a first prize of £66,900.

Panyi eliminated recent Big Game winner Stefan Wittmoss in sixth and the Hit Squad's Chaz Chattha in fifth in quick succession to take control of the final table. Sam Patel was next to go, followed by Birmingham cash grinder Claudio Cambianica whose 55s ran into Panyi's 99.

Panyi went into heads up play with Ramey Shaio with a 5:2 chip lead and the WSOP $1.5k 6-max finalist couldn't overturn it. Shaio got it in with A6 against Panyi's KQ but a queen on the flop gave Panyi the title and his biggest live score to date, easily exceeding the £11,700 he pocketed for winning last year's GSOP event in London.
