Though no official announcement has been made about the forthcoming contest, Veldhuis confirmed the bout on his Twitter account writing, “I’m fighting (kickboxing) Elky in Las Vegas this summer. Last week of May right before WSOP probably. This all because of a side bet!”.


ElkY and Veldhuis aren't the only poker players to take to the ring in order to spice up a side bet. Theo Jorgensen took $35,000 from Gus Hansen after winning a three round boxing match in 2009. Even Liv Boeree has donned boxing gloves, beating poker journalist Melissa Castello in a contest to raise funds for charity.


The early opinion seems to be that Veldhuis will come out on top.
