The PokerPro® is an electronic poker table that shuffles, deals and even calculates pots has had a month-long launch at Aspers casino in Newcastle. Each player is seated in front of a screen which discretely displays hole cards and provides them with information on stack sizes and bets around the table. The PokerPro® can even offer hand histories for those wanting to analyse past plays.
Essentially it is internet poker in a live game environment. With 50 – 60% more hands per hour, the action will satisfy players used to the pace of poker online, as well increasing the table rake for the casino. Problems such as incorrectly spilt pots, misdeals or accidentally mucked cards, do not occur, ensuring smooth, fast-paced play. There are some losses: no dealer, no chips to clack and less of the live-game drama and interaction.
June Moore Head of Marketing at Aspers said, “Our PokerPro ® promotion has delivered some really positive results. The unique nature of the product has generated a lot of interest and we’ve worked hard to target the promotions to connect with different audiences.”
Tim Klok of Aristocrat Technologies Europe, sole distributors of the PokerTech PokerPro® table in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, was impressed with the way Aspers maximised the table’s exposure by staging student nights offering poker and a pint, a Ladies Champagne Poker event and a Poker ‘Boot Camp.’ A mini-tournament which ran during the promotional month found nine finalists to play Snooker champion and poker player Jimmy White.
