Einhorn joins $1m One Drop field

Saturday, 23 June 2012

David Einhorn is the latest name to be added to the $1m Big One For One Drop tournament that gets under way at the WSOP next week.

The founder of Greenlight Capital Inc hedge fund is no stranger to the poker felt having enjoyed a deep run in the 2006 Main Event. Einhorn eventually busted out in 18th place, good for a score of $659k which he donated to the Michael J Fox Foundation. A spokesman for Einhorn yesterday confirmed that he would once again be giving away any profit that he makes in the Big One to the City Year project in Boston.

Einhorn's registration takes the number of confirmed runners in the the Big One up to 42. With five final tables already at this year's WSOP (and in all probability some big side action) Phil Ivey is expected to join the field, as is Marvin Rettenmaier who is still selling shares.

The winner of the tournament will walk away with a first prize of at least $16.4m.
