Edward Norton: Rounders 2 "a possibility"

Edward Norton: Rounders 2

Tuesday, 2 December 2014

Hollywood actor and one of the stars of Rounders, Edward Norton, recently appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman to discuss some future projects. Although he hasn't claimed to be a huge fan of poker, one of Letterman's opening questions was a reference to Rounders 2.

"Whenever your name comes up I think of two things. One, the great movie 'Rounders.' Tremendous film. I just now heard, which I don’t believe possible, the possibility of a second Rounders. I don’t know how you make a second Rounders. Is there a possibility of it?"

Earlier this year the poker community was awash with rumours that a sequel to Rounders might be on the way and now it seems a lot more likely to happen if high profile TV hosts such as Letterman are giving time to the speculation.

In response to the question, an enthusiastic Norton said:

"I think there is a possibility of it. Yea, we um, we couldn’t have had more fun making that movie. That was one of the best gangs of people ever. We did it right on the cusp of what became kind of the resurgence of the poker phenomenon. And I think Matt and I talked later…we should have negotiated like a 5% rake on every poker pot that was played after that. Then we could have made the film with our money!"

Whether or not Rounders 2 will ever get made is up for discussion, but it's certainly nice to see yet more positive discussions about poker in the mainstream media.
