ESPN Shorten WSOP Televised Schedule

ESPN Shorten WSOP Televised Schedule

Thursday, 30 April 2009

Despite showing 7 events from the WSOP last year including HORSE and Pot Limit Omaha, ESPN have decided to cut down to 4 for the 2009 series. All of these are No-Limit Hold ‘em events and one is a freeroll.

The events and televising dates are below:
$40,000 40th Anniversary NLHE, will air July 28th
WSOP Champions Invitational, will air August 4th
$5,000 Ante Up for Africa, will air August 11th

Of course we haven’t forgotten the $10,000 Main Event which will again follow the “November Nine” format once more. The coverage will begin on August 18th with each of the four starting days being covered for two hours. The final table will air November 10.

The $50,000 HORSE, since its inception a staple of the WSOP on ESPN, is conspicuously missing from the schedule. Perhaps poor reception from a NLHE-saturated audience or Scotty Nguyen’s brash victory last year has affected their decision?
