EPT winner Vamplew is UKIPT Champion of Champions

Wednesday, 6 October 2010

On Monday night after a three hour heads-up battle, David Vamplew defeated John Juanda and took down the EPT London Main Event for £900,000. Last night he returned to the same televised table and the run good vibes were still there – he is now the UKIPT Champion of Champions.

Vamplew joined the eight other winners from the UKIPT Season 1 and they played out a deepstacked tournament to determine the winner; the UKIPT Champion of Champions receives a free entry to each and every UKIPT event in the next season. The total prize package is worth in excess of £50,000.

Vamplew was heads-up with Black Belt Poker’s Jamie Burland, UKIPT Manchester champion, when in a hand or two it was over. His A-Q got in good against K-T and held up on an ace-high flop despite a potential backdoor diamond draw for Burland.

“I’m running goo-ooh-ood,” Vamplew sang to himself. From NL400 online to EPT London winner and UKIPT Champion of Champions? Running good doesn’t quite seem to cover it.
