EPT Warsaw under way

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

The poker caravan has moved to Eastern Europe this week with the start of EPT Warsaw.

66 of yesterday’s 88 starters remain with Carter Phillips at the head of the field. The EPT Barcelona winner has a stack of 194,850 giving him a massive lead over nearest rival, Clayton Mozdean who has 103,250. The only other player to reach six figures was Italian pro Luca Pagano on 101,575.

Dave Hardy heads the British challenge. The oil rigger, who qualified for the event via a PokerStars $20 rebuy, managed a double up just before the close of play, his sixes holding up against the caller’s A8. He’s safely in the pack with a stack over 21,425.

A much bigger field is expected for Day 1B with big names Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospelier, Dario Minieri, Gus Hansen, Scotty Nguyen, Shaun Deeb, Ludovic Lacay and Katya Thater all set to make their entrance today.

Play resumes at 11.30am UK time.
