The first European Poker Tour event to be held in Portugal got under way in Vilamoura yesterday with Ljubomir Josipovic leading the way at the end of Day 1A. The Austrian heads the 76 remaining players with a stack of 192,900.

Joining him at the head of the leader board are Lithuanian Dominykas Karmazinas on 183,000 and Team Poker Stars Pro Ruben Visser who has 172,400.


Other big names to survive Day 1A were Shaun Deeb, Sergey Lebedev (not to be confused with the former head of the KGB), EPT London High Roller winner Jason Mercier, Marc Naalden, Chad Brown and the short stacked Katja Thater.


Richard Grace leads the British challenge followed by Barny Boatman and qualifiers Craig Hopkins and David Rawnsley.


A host of top names, including ElkY, Late Night Poker winner Huck Seed, former WSOP champion Peter Eastgate, Luca Pagano and Dario Minieri are expected to make their entrance on Day1B. The action gets underway at noon.
