EPT San Remo starts today

Thursday, 15 April 2010

The penultimate leg of the 2009/10 European Poker Tour takes place this week with the €5,000+€300 main event starting today.

A host of top pros including World Champions Joe Cada and Peter Eastgate, PCA champ Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier and regular fixture in the winner's enclosure Jason Mercier will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Holland's Constant Rijkenberg who won last year's tournament. The 20-year-old student outlasted a field of 1,178 players, the largest ever assembled on European soil, to take home a whopping first prize of €1,508,000.

San Remo will also be one of the few remaining opportunities to alter the Player of the Year race, which is hotting up nicely. EPT Kiev winner Max Lykov is currently in pole position, followed by Kevin MacPhee and Martin Kabrhel.

The nominees for the EPT Achievement of the Year and EPT People’s Choice Awards will both be revealed at the end of EPT San Remo on 22nd April.

Join us over the next few days for updates on what promises to be an extremely competitive event.
