EPT Prague underway; Ludovic Lacay leads

Thursday, 11 December 2008

A strong turnout meant that 272 players laid their money down to compete in PokerStars’ EPT Prague tournament. Among the players on Day 1a were EPT London winner Michael Martin; defending EPT Prague champion Arnaud Matten; WSOP Europe bracelet-winner Theo Jorgenson as well as Rolf Slotboom and Gus Hansen.

Slotboom was one of the first casualties after his KK was cracked by AQ on an AxxQ board. His considerable shortstacking skills did naught as his stack was less than one big blind and he left shortly after.

Also railing now rather than playing are Gus Hansen, Theo Jorgenson, Michael Martin and Arnaud Matten. The latter moved all in on the turn as a semi-bluff with two overs and the nut flush draw holding As-Js but the top pair of his opponent held up on the river.

One man who enjoyed better luck was Ludovic Lacay, who holds the chip lead after Day 1a. Firstly he enjoyed a nice double-up against Otto Richard with QQ vs Richard’s AK and then shortly before the end of the day an AA v KK situation in his favour, again with Richard, gave him an insurmountable chip lead.
