He began at the top of the chip count, and that’s where he ended: David ‘The Dragon’ Pham is the chip leader at the final table of eight. It wasn’t all plain-sailing for Pham though, and arguably his biggest threat in the tournament looms large in second place.
The forty players who returned to play will have all had their eyes on a spot at the final table, and it took ten and half hours to lose thirty two. Three of the notable eliminations before the final table were William Thorson (out in 9th), Victor Ramdin (25th) and Eric ‘Rizen’ Lynch, who went out in 26th place.
Meanwhile, David Pham seemed to be heading the same way, as his 2,003,000 soon shrunk to just under one million. As the day started to wind down, Pham found another hot streak, and ended up bagging 7,390,000 chips. He has now been at the top of the leaderboard, and will feel confident of his chances on the final table.
His biggest danger may well be Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier. The Team PokerStars member went deep at the EPT stops in Baden and Warsaw. Now he has a golden opportunity to take down a title, advancing on his second place finish at the EPT Scandinavian Open.
The winner of the tournament will walk away with $2 million and the EPT titles. The final table chip counts are:
David Pham: 7,390,000
Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier: 3,060,000
Joe 'BigEgypt' Elpayaa: 2,755,000
Haffiz Khan: 2,560,000
Kris Kuykendall: 2,150,000
Richard Fohrenbach: 1,855,000
Craig Hopkins: 1,770,000
Christian Harder: 905,000
