London becomes the capital of the poker universe, for the next week and a bit at least, as the PokerStars European Poker TourPokerStars European Poker Tour descends on the capital for nine days of top class tournament action.

The first of 31 events starts at the Hilton Metropole at 1pm today in the form of a £1,000+£100 NLHE event with £300 Five Card PLO 8 or better, £300 NLHE Turbo and Main Event satellites scheduled for later in the day (satellites will take place at The Vic).


Plenty of big names are in town for the £5,250 Main Event including Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier, Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom as well of course as the best that British poker has to offer. The Main Event action gets under way on Friday lunchtime with the winner set to be crowned on 6th October 2011.


Other events certain to provoke plenty of interest include the £20,500 High Roller event, the £2,150 8-Game European Championship, the £5,250 Heads-Up event and for the first time a special Twitter inspired contest. The complete tournament line up can be found here.
