EPT London Main Event continues

EPT London Main Event continues

Monday, 5 October 2009

Day 2 of the PokerStars EPT London £5,000 Main Event has concluded, with just 111 players left out of the 730 that came together to create a huge £3.5m prize pool and an £850,000 first-place prize.

Despite this event only having half the buy-in of the Betfair sponsored WSOPE Main Event, the winner will take down £40,000 more than Barry Shulman was awarded for his victory over Daniel Negreanu in the epic heads-up showdown.

Currently leading the field is Tommy Vedes, winner of the last World Poker Open with over half a million dollars in tournament earnings to his name. There are a few people on his tail though.

Jeff Lisandro is looking for an EPT title to add to his three 2009 WSOP bracelets while 2008 Main Event champion Peter Eastgate sits one place behind him in sixth. JC Tran, who in typical style played his last hand of the day calling out his opponent’s exact hole cards, is in ninth place behind man of the hour Teddy Sheringham – according to the Sun newspaper, the “14th best poker player in Europe.”

Full Tilt Pros John Juanda, Chris Ferguson and Roland de Wolfe still have healthy stacks, with former actor Michael Greco looking to improve upon his good results this year and Annette Obrestad still alive in the tournament.
