EPT London Kicks Off Today

EPT London Kicks Off Today

Wednesday, 30 September 2009

John Tabbatabi has some comfort after his aces were cracked on the bubble of the Betfair World Series of Poker Europe Main Event: the PokerStars European Poker Tour London leg kicks off today, just a short journey down the road at the Hilton Metropole hotel.

This event will suit the historic city by being the largest European Poker Tour event ever held – the three-day £20,000 High Roller event starts proceedings alongside the £5,000 Main Event and a £2,000 8-Game Championship and a £500 8-Game side event.

Furthermore, a £1k Pot Limit Omaha High-Low event, a £1k No Limit 6-Max event and a £2k PLO event will take place as well – after the European Poker Championships and the ongoing WSOPE, London is the poker capital of the world this autumn.

Last year’s Main Event attracted almost 600 players, meaning that US pro Michael Martin took home £1,000,000 when he defeated the field to claim the title. Jason Mercier won the £20,000 High Roller event but can’t defend his title on Day 1 this year – he’s still in the running at The Empire to take down the WSOPE Main Event.
