EPT Kyiv Attracts Big Names for Day 2

EPT Kyiv Attracts Big Names for Day 2

Thursday, 20 August 2009

The PokerStars EPT Kyiv reassembled at the Kyiv Sporting Palace for Day 2 of the tournament. With 93 players remaining after Day 1, the second tournament day saw 167 players sign up for stacks, including some noteworthy pros.

Despite the field seeming to consist almost entirely of Team PokerStars Pros – Ivan Demidov, Dario Minieri, Katja Thater, Leonardo Fernandez and Shaun Deeb all began Day 2 – it was a relative unknown who took the title of chip leader. After seven one-hour levels, Viktor Ivanov lead the field with over 150,000.

With the final totals set – 267 players overall began both days – the prize pool could be announced. Over €1.3m was generated by the players and the winner of the tournament will receive a cool €330,000.

Full Tilt Poker pro Gus Hansen arrived with a bang – fashionably late, he sat down for his usual loose-aggressive raisefest before, with a bang themselves, the lights cut out. After 25 minutes of floor staff holding torches over tables, the problem was resolved and Hansen eventually left the field.

Play with the remaining 203 players begins today. PokerStars has to-the-minute updates as well as cheap ways to qualify for future EPT events.
