The players at this year’s EPT Dublin will be doing their bit for charity again when the annual ‘Simon Poker Tournament’ will be staged in early November. After the success of the annual ‘Holdem 100’ prior to the London leg of the EPT, ‘Simons Poker Tournament’ aims to help those combating homelessness in Dublin.
Support so far has been strong, with top players such as Noel Furlong, Dave Colclough, Donnacha O’Dea and ‘Mad’ Marty Wilson all signing up, as well as Poker Stars, 888 and Green Joker Poker pledging financial support and satellites to the tournament.
The event is a €300 buy in freezeout, with €100 of every buy in going directly to the Simon Dublin charity. Padraig Parkinson, spokesman for the players who will be supporting the event said, “The event was a massive success last year and many thanks to John Duthie from the EPT and Charles Harbourne from the Merrion Casino Club for this wonderful gesture. It’s a great opportunity for players to sit down, have some craic, and play with some of the biggest names in the game without having to take out a bank loan.”
