EPT : Dortmund and Monte Carlo Final getting closer

EPT : Dortmund and Monte Carlo Final getting closer

Friday, 6 March 2009

The PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Final is now only weeks away and the Monte Carlo classic promises to be huge.

In spite of the recession, 1,000 players are expected for the Main Event, for a prize pool of €10 million. Also up for grabs are the inaugural €5K European Pot Limit Omaha Championship, a 25K High Roller Championship and a host of side events, poker clinics and a Battleship Poker championship. 22 year old Canadian qualifier Glen Chorny claimed the title last year. Will an unknown claim the crown or will the old guard fight back? We’ll soon find out.

There is one last step though before we head to Monte Carlo... After last month’s Copenhagen adventure the European Poker Tour now heads to Germany next week for the EPT Dortmund where Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier will be looking to maintain his lead at the top of the EPT leaderboard. A capacity field of 700 is expected for the €5.3K buy in event. 18 year old Mike ‘Timex’ McDonald took the €933,000 first prize last year.
