EPT Deauville attracts 889 players; €870,000 for first place
Thursday, 2 February 2012
The second day of the PokerStars EPT Deauville Main Event saw a field of 550 players compete in Day 1b, which in addition to Day 1a gives us a total field of 889. This is just two entries less than the record field of 2011.
On the subject of Deauville 2011, current champion
Lucien Cohen busted at the end of Day 1b to ensure a new champion. He joined
Viktor Blom,
Eugene Katchalov and
Vanessa Selbst on the rail.
Frenchman
Amir Salhani led the day 2 chip counts on 191,000 followed by Joakim Lofgren and Toufik Ouirini on 166,800.
Martins Adeniya best placed of the British contingent in the second opening flight, closing the day with a very healthy stack of 115,200.
Toby Lewis is also riding high with 93,200 with 2010 winner
Jake Cody amassing 78,400.
Other big names making it through were
Vanessa Rousso and
Nacho Barbero. We’re especially impressed at Barbero, who is competing here after being at both the PCA and Aussie Millions.
Of the remaining players, 128 of them will see a €7,500 payday with those at the final table guaranteed €67,200.
