EPT Barcelona starts today

EPT Barcelona starts today

Monday, 22 November 2010

PokerStars are back in the swing of things with regards to live tournaments with the oldest event on the European Poker Tour beginning its seventh run today in Barcelona. Liv Boeree and Daniel Negreanu are just two of the PokerStars pros who made it out to compete.

Last year the €8,000 Main Event of the EPT Barcelona attracted a field of 428 and awarded a first place prize of €850,000 to Carter Phillips who beat UK favourite Marc Goodwin heads-up last September.

This year the buy-in has been lowered to €5,000 which should attract an even bigger field. Play began at noon today with PokerStars Pros such as Liv Boeree tweeting their attendance and players like Nicolas Levi taking their seats as we type.

Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu had a torrid time making it to Barcelona but got there in the end – his passport difficulties meant he had to fly from Las Vegas to Seattle, drive home to Vancouver and then back to Seattle before leaving for Barcelona. He made it in the end though and will be looking to better his 4th place finish in Vienna.
