Dwyte Pilgrim wins World Poker Tour Borgata Open

Friday, 24 September 2010

Dwyte Pilgrim has almost doubled his $815,000 in career winnings after taking down the record-breaking field at the World Poker Tour Borgata Open, pocketing $733,000 and WPT bracelet to go with his WSOP Circuit rings.

“I don’t care what happens,” said Pilgrim during the table. “I showed these guys how to play from beginning to end. You think I don’t know every facet of this game?” While some thought Pilgrim came across as arrogant, when he won the event he shot out of his chair and fell to the floor crying with joy before receiving a standing ovation.

In the last hand after an intense heads-up battle with eventual runner-up Kia Mohajeri, the chips went in on a K-T-7-9 board; Mohajeri held K-9 for two pair but Pilgrim turned up Q-J for the nut straight and faded another king or nine on the river. He wins a WPT bracelet and more than $733,000.
The full final table payouts were as follows:

1. Dwyte Pilgrim – $733,802
2. Kia Mohajeri – $440,945
3. Ofir Mor – $266,835
4. Brandon Novena – $223,475
5. Daniel Makowsky – $183,449
6. Ben Klier – $148,427
