It was a case of Double Dutch at the Portomaso Casino in Malta yesterday as the final of the latest leg of the Unibet Open series was left to a pair of gentlemen from the Netherlands.
In the end it was Mateusz Moolhuizen who defeated compatriot Tobias Peters to take home a first prize of €117,000. The pair had worked their way through a field of 293 starters before undertaking what proved to be a lengthy and very swingy heads up confrontation.Moolhuizen had fallen behind in the chip counts but a timely double up with AK against K10 put him firmly in the driving seat. The end came soon after and once again it was a King that was to prove crucial. All the chips went in on a K-9-Q rainbow flop with Peters holding K6, well behind his opponent's K10. The turn and river were blanks leaving Moolhuizen to celebrate the biggest win of his poker career. Peters was forced to settle with €76,000 for his runner up finisher, still a fine return on his €1,650 investment. The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1st €117,000 Mateusz Moolhuizen 2nd €76,000 Tobias Peters 3rd €49,000 Sampo Rynanen 4th €32,000 Rodolfo Gaddo 5th €23,500 Mikkel Christensen 6th €19,500 Adria Maria Balaguer 7th €15,500 Matas Dilpsas 8th €11,500 Brian Linnet 9th €8,000 Rene FreymannThe next leg of the Unibet Open series is in Barcelona from 9th to 12th June 2011.
