Dusk Till Dawn set to break UK poker record with 1,600 player tournament

Tuesday, 8 February 2011

Last year’s Dusk Till Dawn Grand Prix still has the honour of being the largest poker tournament held on UK soil with their 900 player cap being hit, the £45,000 guarantee being met and a televised final table with a five-figure first prize all for a £55 entry.

The EPT London, which held the record for the 2009 run, could muster up only 848 players when David Vamplew beat John Juanda heads-up for the title, meaning that the Dusk Till Dawn club still boasts the largest tournament in UK poker history. And now they’re going to break their own record.

The next Grand Prix has been announced – still a £55 buy-in, the event now has an £80,000 guarantee which mathematicians will note means a 1,600 player field is required to make up the numbers. May 16-22 will be the date for the event with a staggering FIVE Day 1 flights that should make this record a piece of cake to achieve.

With only a £55 entry, a slow structure and a first prize looking in the region of £20,000, UK players would be mental not to try and arrange a trip to Nottingham for mid-May.
