Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) sponsored player Dave ‘El Blondie’ Colclough has won the GUKPT Blue Square Manchester Leg taking home £100,000 and a seat in the GUKPT final. And he wasn’t the only DTD player at the final table.
Despite a classic mid position steal in the previous round, Richard Ashby finished 6th winning £14,200. He went all-in against Barry Neville’s pocket 3’s with pocket 8’s, but Barry hit a set on the river.
He was clearly pleased, saying, “It’s always nice to have a big win and this is one of my biggest pay days from a tournament. However for the most part I’m just proud to have done so well against a very good field of players.”
After four days of play, 276 players were eliminated, and play on the final table began at 5pm. El Blondie dominated, and by midnight he and his 1.85 million chips were heads up against Barry Neville’s 1 million.
Colclough called it, “The toughest heads up match I’ve ever had.”
Two and a half hours later, with blinds at 25,000-50,000, Neville flopped top pair, top kicker, and went all in, but Colclough made a flush on the river with T-9 clubs.
Dave Colclough is the second DTD sponsored player in a row to win on the GUKPT, after Michael Greco’s win in Cardiff.
‘El Blondie’ is known as a steady professional player, but hit the headlines when he blogged: 'Came home from Monte Carlo to find my wife in bed with a 26-year-old.' He threw the pair out and changed the locks, but did not leave the post up for long.
