Plenty of hustle and bustle around the Regency Hotel in Dublin for Day 1A of the EPT. Tournament organizer John Duthie was particularly over-worked in what was a frantic start to the day. Players mulling around looking for a place to relax in preparation for the tournament.
Poker pro and EPT specialist Lica Pagano said “I always try and have a full meal before I play. It helps keep you calm and focused.” He was one of many waiting for play to get under way, and one with a big chance this weekend. His fellow mainland European’s were finding it tough to get used to the smoking ban in Ireland. “Oh my it’s so cold out here,” said one disgruntled Swede who had to step outside to light up.
The press room was perhaps the least crowded part of the building today. It seemed to be a day of rest for the scribblers perhaps. No doubt they will be out in force as the week goes on however.
The cards were soon in the air and spirits were lifted. None so thanks to the arrival of Padraig Parkinson along with his array of jokes. He was not playing today but still came along to keep us railbirds happy. Nice of him really.
With 3 days to go the action is just getting started...
