Doyle: “WSOPE Venue Should Change Every Year”

Thursday, 1 October 2009

Doyle Brunson had something to say before being eliminated from the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event in 17th place – well, he is an old man at the end of the day; they always have something to complain about.

The ten-time WSOP bracelet-winner and Doyle’s Room founder stated that he thought the venue for the World Series of Poker Europe should change each year; not only from The Empire but from London itself.

“London is just too expensive for the beginning pros to play. The Empire Casino is where we play now and it needs to be bigger," Doyle says. “The tournament would draw many more players if it was in a different European city each year.”

Brunson, who was eliminated from the WSOPE Main Event to a standing ovation after James Akenhead’s As-Ks held up against Q9o, also stated that he was embarrassed by Phil Hellmuth’s flamboyant entrance to the event.
