Dom Mahoney wins Teesside Coral Masters

Dom Mahoney wins Teesside Coral Masters

Monday, 13 September 2010

Anyone hitting the rail at the Gala Casino in Stockton yesterday evening could have been forgiven for thinking they'd gone back in time. There was a very familiar look to the heads up proceedings as Dom Mahoney and Mark Trett battled it out for the Teesside Coral Masters title for the second year running.

The result was reversed this time though with Mahoney taking the title ahead of last year's winner and CBMPT regular Mark Trett. Mahoney sealed the win with the blinds at 4k/8k. Trett raised to 16,000 from the button, Mahoney re-raised to 40,000 and Trett peeled off a flop. Both players checked the Ace high flop. Mahoney bet 40,000 after a Jack on the turn and Trett made the call. Mahoney checked the 8 on the river, Trett shoved his final 180,000 and Mahoney made the call, his A3 good enough to take the title.

In addition to £14,000 in cash, Mahoney earns a seat in the end of season sit and go where Coral sponsorship packages worth £10k and £5k can be won. The Coral Masters Tour heads to Edinburgh for the next leg from 29th to 31st October 2010. Satellites are running at Coral Poker.
