Dmitry Gromov wins WPT Vienna

Wednesday, 30 March 2011

Russia's Dmitry Gromov has become the latest winner on the World Poker Tour after triumphing at WPT Vienna last night.

Gromov went into the last day with a healthy chip lead and kept up the pressure throughout, eliminating half of the final table to set up a heads up encounter with fellow Russian Maxim Kolosov.

Two-handed play lasted just five hands with the chips going in with Kolosov holding pocket 8s against his countryman's A10. A 10 on the flop gave Gromov the win, preventing Kolosov from joining his partner Natalia Nikitina, who won the WPT Diamond Championship in Paris earlier this month, in the World Poker Tour winner's circle.

The final tables positions and payouts were as follows:

1.Dmitry Gromov €447,850
2.Maxim Kolosov €241,180
3.Simon Ravnsbaek €169,690
4.Mario Adinolfi €115,420
5.Valentin Stroiescu €83,550
6.Maximilian Noll €65,460
7.Alessio Isaia €49,100
8.Mark Jenisch €36,180
