Dmitry Gromov heads WPT Vienna final table

Dmitry Gromov heads WPT Vienna final table

Tuesday, 29 March 2011

The final table has been set at WPT Vienna. Dmitry Gromov heads the final eight and with a stack of 5,325,000 he's comfortable ahead of nearest rivals Simon Ravnsbaek and Maxim Kolosov who return with 3,265,000 and 1,870,000 respectively.

WPT Venice winner Alessio Isaia is still in with a shot of bagging back to back titles and will return to the Montesino Casino in sixth place with 1,320,000.

Pascal Lefrancois was the unfortunate bubble boy. The Canadian WSOP bracelet winner looked to have the poker gods with him when he got it in with kings against Mario Adolfini's aces and hit a cowboy on the flop. The poker gods can take away as well as give though and they did just that when Maximilian Noll's pocket deuces cracked Lefrancois' pocket aces. His bad run continued when he was outdrwan by Alessio Isaia and then eliminated by Dmitry Gromov who hit his winning pair on the river.

The eight finalists are guaranteed at least €36,180 with the final four all taking home a five-figure sum. The winner will pocket a cool €447,180.

The action resumes at noon today (UK time) with viewers able to follow the final table courtesy of live streaming, complete with hole card cams, via the PartyPoker Blog. Mike Sexton and Jesse May will be on commentary duty.
