Devilfish to address the Oxford Union

Devilfish to address the Oxford Union

Thursday, 14 May 2009

The list of the great and the good who have addressed the Oxford Union is an impressive one. Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa, Archbishop Tutu, the Dalai Lama and Geoffrey Boycott have all spoken there and this weekend one of poker’s finest will join the illustrious list.

WSOP and WPT bracelet winner, Bluff Europe Poker academy coach and the most familiar face in UK poker Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott will be appearing at what former Prime Minister Harold MacMillan called “The last bastion of free speech in the Western world”.

Commenting on his appearance Ulliott said “As a hard working graduate of the University of Life, it’s a real honour to be asked to speak at the Union where some of the great minds and talents of the last 200 years have gone before. Poker is a complex game that suits brilliant thinkers like me and while I don’t know most of the people who have spoken there over the years I’m a big fan of Kermit the Frog and to take to the same stage as him is humbling. After the debate I’m off to speak to the BBC World Service and I expect the United Nations will probably want me next week.”

The event starts at 8.30pm on Saturday 16 May with the Devilfish answering questions on his illustrious poker career. Players buying in for the £20 Main Event of the Oxford Cup which starts in three weeks will also gain entrance to the debate.
