UK poker pro David 'Devilfish' Ulliot upped the proverbial ante this week with a $266,000 win at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic event held in Las Vegas.
As well as the whopping cheque, the English player also took home a World Poker Classic gold bracelet, together with a seat at the $25,000 World Poker Tour finals in April next year.
Ulliot had the highest chip count upon sitting down at the final table with 192,000 in chips. Sitting nearby were some tough opponents including pros Brad 'Yukon' Booth and Noah Boeken, although heads-up play was with John Strzemp.
Following a long heads-up session, both players eventually moved all-in with aces, Ulliot with the stronger kicker. Lady Luck was far from Strzemp’s side on the turn and the river resulting in Ulliot reaping the title, prize money, bracelet and WPT sponsorship. Though defeated, Strzemp received $149,000 for his second place finish.
