Yesterday saw 170 players return to the Casino Copenhagen for Day 2 of PokerStars European Poker Tour Scandinavian Open, with Noah Boeken, Thor Hansen, Alex Kravchenko and Luca Pagano the most notable players remaining. The early part of the day saw a lot of the short stacks keen to make their move to gather chips for the rest of the session.
One player who tried just that was Nicholas Levi. Early in the day, he moved all in from the small blind with Kh-Jh over the top of an opening bet from the cutoff, who called holding Ah-Qh. Levi needed to improve his hand to stay in the tournament, but the dealer offered him no help, instead adding Levi’s name to those on the rail.
Another player who looked to make a move early was Barny Boatman, who moved in with Js-9d and was dominating Tommy Pavlicek’s Jc-8h. The eight on the flop ended Boatman’s dreams of a Danish success. Other players eliminated early in the day were Thor Hansen, Boeken and Arnaud Mattern.
Two winners at the Scandinavian Poker Awards were already out, with Gus Hansen and Annette Obrestad eliminated in Day 1. Jonas ‘Nebuchad’ Danielsson picked up the Online Player of the Year, but he joined his fellow award winners on the casualties list.
As the money bubble loomed, play slowed a little until two all-in hands took place simultaneously. Howard Speer’s AK lost against QJ at the same time as Tversted’s KJ was dominated and beaten by his opponent’s AK. Seeing that Speer had more chips at the start of the hand, he cashed for $12,575, whilst Tversted went home empty handed.
Day 2 wrapped up with Rasmus Hede Nielsen top of the chip counts. The top ten going into today’s Day 3 action look like this:
Rasmus Hede Nielsen — 295,500
Joris Jaspers — 294,800
Johan Lund — 290,500
Patrik Andersson — 268,500
Jospeh Serock — 265,000
Jan Sørensen — 173,500
Ed de Haas — 167,500
Timothy Vance — 154,000
Peter Eastgate — 154,000
Trond Erik Eidsvig — 149,500
