Day 1a of PokerStars EPT Copenhagen complete

Wednesday, 17 February 2010

The PokerStars European Poker Tour is still a roaring success as almost two hundred players took to the felt for the first day of the Copenhagen 35,000DKK (approximately £4,000) main event.

Day 1b resumes today and the prize pool could potentially hit £2,000,000 if the latter day’s turnout proves larger than yesterday’s. Annette Obrestad, Johnny Lodden, EPT champion Arnaud Mattern and overnight chip leader Andrew Pantling will all return to gun for the top prize on Day 2.

Canadian Pantling, who has almost $400,000 in live tournament winnings including final tables in last year’s EPT London and Irish Open, holds a huge stack of 155,800 – far ahead of runner-up in the Day 1a chip counts Johnny Ostbjerg.

Pantling crept up the chip counts with aggressive play, nearly doubling his stack between the penultimate and last blind level of the day. He will resume play on Day 2 with a stack of over 400 big blinds.
