Day 1a of PokerStars APPT Complete

Day 1a of PokerStars APPT Complete

Wednesday, 26 August 2009

The PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour kicked off yesterday, with 119 runners stumping up the $5,000 buy-in (or, more likely, paying $5.50 or a few FPPs on PokerStars) to compete in the APPT.

Over 100 players assembled in the room and they included some big names – David Steicke, who will never want to leave Asia after his win in the Asian Poker Tour Macau’s High Roller event as well as a final table in the Main Event, built a huge stack of 82,300 – four times the average at the conclusion of the day.

However, the Day 1a chip lead belongs to online player Brandon Dames, who finished with a monstrous 102,200. He will return on Friday for Day 2 along with the other 63 survivors and the others who make it today and tomorrow.

The Aussies are also doing alright – Aussie Millions 2009 champion Stewart Scott is surviving as is Australian Team PokerStars Pro Grant Levy.

Qualify for future live events at PokerStars.
