David Williams leaves Bodog Poker

Friday, 28 May 2010

David Williams grabbed headlines recently when he took down the 2010 World Poker Tour $25,000 Championship, beating up a final table that included David Benyamine and Phil Hellmuth to take home $1,530,537... which makes it odd that he and sponsors Bodog would part company.

Speculation was rife on the forums since the announcement was not particularly publicised. An apparent insider on the Bodog team revealed that Williams chose to leave, leading to fans guessing that he was unsatisfied with the bonus awarded to him for winning a major tournament under Bodog’s sponsorship.

Amanda Musumeci has come in to join Evelyn Ng as a Bodog sponsored pro, but you’d be forgiven for wondering who she is. In their press release, her achievements included living with occasional tournament player Anna Wroblewski and she has no live tournament winnings. Bodog are putting great work into their sportsbetting and casino sites and have perhaps relaxed their efforts in the poker market.
