David Vamplew wins PokerStars Sunday 500 for $62,144

Tuesday, 23 August 2011

We have already reported that Team PokerStars pro and UK poker player Liv Boeree won the Womens’ Sunday event at PokerStars.com but our Isles had more success in the Sunday tournaments as well as the Sunday Million giving out over $1.3 million. Again.

David Vamplew is a name you may recognise as the mid-stakes grinder became a notable name when he frustrated John Juanda (and the Bluff Europe live reporting team) at EPT London 2010 by constantly staying alive and refusing to bow to the pressure of the Full Tilt Pro.

He wound up defeating Juanda to take the near million-pound first prize before winning the UKIPT Champion Of Champions event the very next day.

On Sunday he triumphed over a 816-strong field that smashed the $250,000 guarantee, giving us a prize pool of over $400,000. Vamplew took the lion’s share after beating Mike Dietrich heads-up, taking home $62,144 for his win.
