Saturday, 22 January 2011

The Aussie Millions is in full swing and until the $100,000 event kicks off today (actually by the time you read this it will have begun) the largest event just played out; David Oppenheim bested two tables full of world-class pros in the Full Tilt Poker $25,000 Shootout Invitational event to take down $250,000 for first.

Each of the three tables in the tournament featured eight pros, including the likes of Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, the Boatman brothers, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, John Juanda, Eli Elezra, Tony G and WSOPE champion James Bord. Two of each table advanced to the six-handed final with David Oppenheim and Barny Boatman advancing first; Patrik Antonius and James Bord arriving second and finally Howard Lederer and Eli Elezra completed the set.

Elezra was eliminated from the final first, followed quickly by high stakes regular Patrik Antonius. Boatman bought more cash back to Blighty with a fourth place finish and Full Tilt Poker head honcho Howard Lederer took third.

This left Bord and Oppenheim to play heads-up for the $250,000 first prize and bragging rights in the Full Tilt Poker Pro club. Bord got it in dominated with Ah-8h against A-T and despite turning a flush draw bricked the river, taking $150,000 and leaving Oppenheim the victor.

The full payouts were as follows:
1.David Oppenheim $250,000
2.James Bord $150,000
3.Howard Lederer $90,000
4.Barny Boatman $50,000
5.Patrik Antonius $40,000
6.Eli Elezra $30,000
