Dave Shallow heads WPT Ireland

Saturday, 7 January 2012

Just 36 of the 338 starters at the inaugural WPT Ireland are still in the hunt for the $289,031 with British online grinder Dave Shallow leading the chase.

Shallow, who plays online as Dubai, closed the day with 951,000 chips followed by Franck Boyer 873,000, Steve Watts 628,000, William Dorey 576,000 with Charles Harvey rounding out the top five with 567,000.

The bubble burst just before the close and there are plenty of notable names who have made the money. Among that number are Hendon Mobster Ross Boatman, former World Snooker champion Ken Doherty, Sam MacDonald, Dermot Blain and Hit Squadee Charles Chattha.

Jake Cody and James Dempsey both departed early on day with McLean Karr, Marty Smyth, Matt Perrins and Kara Scott other high profile casualties.

The chip leaders heading into Day 3 are as follows:

1 Dave Shallow 951,000
2 Franck Boyer 873,000
3 Steve Watts 628,000
4 William Dorey 576,000
5 Charles Harvey 567,000

7 Shaun Conning 445,000
8 Jan Larsen 411,000
9 Tim Farrelly 397,000
