Dave “Doc” Sands becomes eighth member of Brunson 10

Thursday, 22 July 2010

Online tournament professional David “Doc Sands” Sands has become the latest member of the Brunson 10, Doyle Brunson’s hand-picked group of young pros that he sees himself in. The 10 is now eight strong after the recent additions of both Sands and Dan Kelly.

Kelly received an automatic spot on the 10 when he secured his first World Series of Poker bracelet after taking down perhaps one of the series’ toughest events; the $25,000 6-max No Limit Hold ‘em tournament. He not only won $1.3m but he was offered a Brunson 10 position.

Kelly, Sands and other pros such as Faraz Jaka were put to the test by Brunson, who said that he would see how players performed at the WSOP before deciding on who to include. After Kelly, Sands put in the next-best effort having finished the series with four cashes including one final table.

Sands plays online under the name Doc Sands and has accumulated over $2,000,000 in tournament earnings. He joins the likes of Kelly and Chris Moorman in the team of poker’s young tournament elite.
