Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott Speaks at Oxford Union.

Thursday, 21 May 2009

Dave Ulliott, the British professional poker player and WPT champion better known by his nickname of Devilfish, gave a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union recently that went down a storm.

He played his guitar, sat in on 20p/40p PLO and signed copies of his biography 'Swimming with the Devilfish'. The most popular anecdote was his telling of the story of the $40,000 bag that got mixed up with a rubbish bag: “The bag of rubbish was securely put away in the safe, and I threw away the forty grand.”

“After six years of trying to get Dave to speak at the Union he finally agreed and he didn't disappoint. The session has us all engrossed, and Dave is also clearly a master at playing a crowd. His manner is unique, enigmatic, and his dry humour put a smile on everyone's face. Afterwards, he received a rapturous round of applause,” said Joe Barnard, organiser of the event.
