Dave Colclough leads UKIPT Nottingham after opening flight

Saturday, 12 February 2011

The latest leg of the UKIPT in Nottingham could be heading for the record books after a massive 491 runners bought in for yesterday's opening flight. An even bigger crowd is expected for the second day one which begins at noon today making the magical 1,000 runners a distinct possibility.

By the close of play just 100 of the 491 day 1A starters were remaining with a familiar face (and crop of hair) at the head of the field. Dave 'El Blondie' Colclough closed the day with 223,400 chips, just ahead of nearest rivals Stuart Barnett, Timothy Boyle, Carlo Citrone and Deborah Rawson.

It wasn't such a good day for many of the big names who tried their luck yesterday though with EPT winners Liv Boeree, Kevin Macphee, Will Fry and David Vamplew all hitting the rail. Joining them there were the likes of Neil Channing, Matt Perrins and Jack Elwood.

The leading chip counts at the end of Day 1A were as follows:

David Colclough 224300
Stuart Barnett 205500
Carlo Citrone 203600
Timothy Boyle 188500
Oluwashola Akindele 186400
Vaidas Siriunas 150600
Ondrej Goetz 146000
James Mcshane 139100
Matthew Vollar 132700
Scott Mcgrory 128200

Join us over the next few days to see who is crowned champion in the potentially record breaking event.
