Daniel Negreanu practising for SuperStar Showdown

Monday, 7 February 2011

Daniel Negreanu has confirmed that he plans to take on Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in a PokerStars Pro vs. PokerStars Pro edition of the 2,500 hand SuperStar Showdown though warned fans he is not ready to take on the legendary Isildur1 just yet.

However, “KidPoker” has been putting in the hours in order to prepare himself for the four-tabling challenge against Blom, taking on both Randy “nanonoko” Lew and Justin Bonomo at the $5/$10 tables on PokerStars. He held Lew to a draw, noting that “this kid usually 20-tables. Four must be boring for him” before a combination of hard work and luck led him to winning more than $15,000 from Bonomo over the 2,500 hands.

“Hardly a secret, I'm a fan of Viktor ‘"Isildur1’ Blom and watching him play the SuperStar Showdown on PokerStars on Sundays has inspired me to see if I can get to the point where I feel like I could be a worthy challenger for him,” Negreanu wrote on his blog. He explained how he is not a natural multi-tabler and is still learning online poker.

“The only way to play [Isildur1] is to hit the grind stone and see if I’m even capable of keeping up,” he said.
