Poker pro Daniel Negreanu has been showing his altruistic side by providing equipment for a US charity to organise a fundraising poker game.
Apparently, upon hearing of plans for the tournament from a colleague at an online poker site, Negreanu took an interest in the project and was then asked if he could organise some complimentary chip sets for the event.
Organisers were astounded when Negreanu donated 20 new poker tables, 20,000 chips, and 40 decks of cards to the cause, providing them with everything they needed to up their tournament ante considerably.
The tournament will support the Adam Pulling Memorial Scholarship Fund. Adam Pulling, a 19-year-old student at Western Michigan University, died two years ago of cancer. Pulling loved to play no-limit Hold'em so his father couldn’t think of a better way to raise much-needed funds for the cause.
The scholarship fund has distributed more than $10,000 since Pulling's death.
